At BCS Prep, Mathematics is taught to build confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment. From early number play to complex problem-solving, pupils learn to see Maths as a practical subject that helps them understand the world around them.
Early Years
Pupils explore Maths through play, developing number recognition, counting, pattern spotting, shape awareness, and mathematical language in everyday contexts.
Key Stage 1
Children build confidence with number and calculation, learning to add, subtract, and explore multiplication and division. They investigate shapes, measurement, and problem-solving using practical and visual methods.
Key Stage 2
Pupils deepen their understanding of the four operations, times tables, fractions, decimals, and percentages. They apply Maths to geometry, measurement, and data handling, developing strong reasoning and problem-solving skills in preparation for Year 7.
