The Medical Centre at BCS is run by two qualified Nurses, Mrs Sarah Gooden and Mrs Laura Woodward . The Medical Centre is open from 8.15 to 4.15 from Monday to Friday, where the Nurses are on hand to care for day pupils, boarding pupils, staff and visitors, whether they have an illness, incident, accident, injury or just a question to ask.
From the expected, like putting on a plaster, taking a temperature, giving medicine or tying a sling to the unexpected, like taking a blood sample, giving advice, offering a listening ear or just a simple shoulder to cry on.
Together with Mrs Sue Evans, the school Counsellor (who is at he school on Wednesdays and Fridays), we offer a confidential, safe, quiet place to come if you need help whilst you are at BCS.
We fully understand a healthy body equals a healthy mind, and this forms the core of our catering provision.
Working with Holroyd Howe, a leading and highly creative catering company, our daily menus include a variety of healthy, nutritious options for breakfast, lunch and dinner:
· Fresh homemade seasonal soups and breads, salads, sandwiches
· Seasonal and international hot and cold options
· Jacket potato and pasta bar
· Vegetarian/vegan choices as standard at every mealtime
· Fresh fruits, hot and cold dessert choices
We also run food workshops where the pupils can get involved with creating great tasting recipes that they can share with their friends and fellow boarders.
BCS supports and caters for all allergens and dietary requirements, with specific menus designed for individuals where required. Our catering team meets regularly with senior management, parents and pupils to share ideas and suggestions and also work closely with departments such as sports to ensure menus support training and matchday nutrition needs.
