Bournemouth Collegiate School is excited to announce the arrival of LitFest, a literary festival aimed at inspiring a love for reading and writing amongst pupils, between 22 nd and 26th May.
The highlight will be a visit from renowned children's author, Michael Rosen, who will talk to both BCS pupils and children from local schools about his work and creative process on Wednesday 24th May at BCS Prep School. Michael is an accomplished poet, performer, broadcaster, and scriptwriter, and is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated figures in the children's book world. He has written over 140 books, with his unforgettable classic, 'We're going on a Bear Hunt,' being a particular favourite with children worldwide.
In addition, poet and rapper Karl Nova, winner of the CLPE, CLiPPA 2018 Poetry award will be visiting BCS to work with our Year 9 pupils. Karl Nova is one of the UK's leading poets and hip hop artists who delivers his work in his own unique, witty and energetic style. Karl’s sessions aim to nurture and develop students’ skills and enthusiasm towards reading, writing and poetry.
The LitFest will provide pupils with a unique opportunity to engage with the world of literature, and foster a love for books and reading, encouraging them to develop their creativity and imagination.
“There is a huge buzz around Michael Rosen’s upcoming visit to BCS Prep School, to share his passion for writing with our pupils – he's such an engaging and motivating speaker," said Elisabeth Winwood, Head of English at BCS. "We hope that the LitFest will inspire our students to read more and develop their own creative writing skills."
The LitFest is just one of the many initiatives that BCS has undertaken to enhance the reading and writing abilities of its students. The school is committed to promoting literacy and encouraging its pupils to become lifelong learners, and events like these are instrumental in achieving this goal.
