Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS) marked the beginning of the festive season with a joyful Christmas Celebration, held for the first time at the historic St Peter’s Church in Ashley Cross. The event brought together pupils, parents, staff and friends of the school for an evening of reflection, music and community spirit.

Both the Prep and Senior Choirs performed a programme of traditional and contemporary festive hymns, showcasing the musical talent across the school. Members of the BCS community also contributed thoughtful readings throughout the service, adding depth and meaning to the occasion.

Guests enjoyed mulled wine and hot chocolate, creating a warm and welcoming festive atmosphere within the beautiful church setting.

Principal Maria Coulter said: “Without doubt, this year’s service was truly exceptional. The choir sang beautifully, our readers were outstanding, and there was a real elegance to the occasion. In all my years of teaching, I cannot recall a more memorable or moving carol service, and St Peter’s Church proved to be a wonderful venue for our pupils to shine.”

Revd Mike Trotman added, “Christmas traditions have a remarkable power to bring people together, and it’s always a privilege to see them carried forward in such a meaningful way by young people. Welcoming Bournemouth Collegiate School to St Peter’s for their Christmas celebration reminded us how important it is to pause, reflect, and share in the deeper hope and joy at the heart of the season. We were delighted to host the school community and to play a small part in their festive journey.”

The event was a wonderful opportunity for the entire BCS community to come together and celebrate the start of the Christmas season, marking a memorable first year at St Peter’s Church.
