Meet Emily, Year 7 pupil who tells us about what she is enjoying about BCS Senior School, her favourite subjects and hopes for the future…

Q: Why did you come to BCS?

A: Lots of my friends from BCS Prep School were coming so I wanted to stay with them. I love sport and BCS have lots of options to take part in a variety of sports. I especially thought the Swimming Academy looked amazing, as I was already in the Learn to Swim programme; this helped make my decision to go to BCS Senior.

Q: When did you join the Learn to Swim programme?BCS Jan23MP 023 (1)

A: I joined when I was seven, for a couple of years. I'm now a part of the Senior Swimming Academy and it's brilliant, all the coaches are really nice and are great at helping me improve.

Q: What is your training schedule like?

A: It is quite intense, but it means that we can develop more. We usually do a warm up then a main set and a cool down. We train both before school and after school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays mornings.

Q: How are you finding juggling your swimming with lessons?

A: It's fine. I do my homework in prep time during Co-Curricular which helps a lot, as I can get through a lot of work during that time.

Q: What is your favourite subject in school?

A: I'm really enjoying Spanish - I feel like languages are one of my stronger areas. I would like to learn more languages as I get older, in addition to Spanish and French which I'm learning at the moment.

Q: What subjects are you thinking of taking for GCSE?

A: I don’t know exactly what I would like to do, there is a lot of options. I still have a couple of years to decide. I'm enjoying Performing Arts at the minute, the teachers make the lessons fun and interesting. So maybe I will take something with drama and then one of the languages.

Q: Are you enjoying BCS Senior?

A: Yes, it is very different to lower school but I am really enjoying it.
