COURSE OVERVIEW
Physics A-Level builds upon and extends work carried out in the GCSE course. There are familiar topics such as forces and motion, electricity and waves together with new topics such as quantum mechanics.
Each component is examined in far greater detail as we look to see how ideas are linked across different areas of the subject. We also examine how Physics can be applied in a wide range of areas including medicine and astronomy.
Theme 1: Development of practical skills in Physics
Theme 2: Foundations in Physics
Theme 3: Forces and motion
Theme 4: Electrons, waves and photons
Theme 5: Newtonian world and astrophysics
Theme 6: Particles and medical Physics
Physics is regarded as an excellent base for a wide range of career paths and university courses. Most students will follow a science-based path however the skills acquired throughout the course make this subject desirable for any university course or career.
