Outside of the Classroom

Outside of the Classroom

‘Education with character’

An ethos which underpins not just what and how subjects are taught inside the classroom; but what opportunities and experiences are available outside of the classroom to ensure our pupils experience fulfilling, all-round learning to enhance their personal growth and development. And of course, it’s the perfect opportunity to have some fun!

Co-Curricular

The co-curricular offering at BCS Senior encompasses musical and sporting events, celebration of the arts, academics, chess, orchestral evenings, house events, career talks, scholar twilight seminars and much more. Options change each term, and we are always open to suggestions from pupils on particular clubs they would like to see added.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The DofE Award Scheme offers an ideal opportunity for our students to achieve a nationally recognised award which is a real test of their resilience, will develop character and life skills, can help other people and will be an impressive contribution to qualifications and curriculum vitae when progressing with education and career.

Pupils have the opportunity to commence at the introductory Bronze level during Year 9 and to progress through Silver and Gold in the following years. At each level there are four sections: Volunteering to help people, developing a Skill, progressing in a Physical Recreation and undertaking an Expedition.

For more information visit the DofE website or contact the Award Manager Alice Rowe at Alice.Rowe@bcscschool.co.uk .
