COURSE OVERVIEW

History A-Level encompasses a wide range of eras, including pre-and-post war learning. Topics include World War I, the boom and the bust years of the 1920's and 1930's, World War II and racial relations thereafter.

A strong focus on Modern Britain from the 1950’s, to the USA becoming a superpower post-Civil War era of 1865, contribute to students deeper understanding of the world we live in today. 

The study of the Tudors leads to an independent piece of coursework with students deciding on their own line of enquiry into the infamous Tudors.

Paper 1: Three questions on the USA and Britain 

Paper 2: Three questions on the USA and Britain 

Coursework: Tudors (3,500 words)

What can pupils’ study next?

Typically, students go on to study history, politics, archaeology, law (the British module is particularly helpful for law) or journalism.   

An A-Level in history is highly regarded by universities as the subject lends itself to transferable skills and is a highly academic subject.
