COURSE OVERVIEW

Pearson BTEC Level 3 | National Extended | Certificate in Performing Arts 

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts is equivalent to one A-Level.

This qualification is designed to follow on from the BTEC Level 2 Tech Award: Performing Arts but is also fully compatible with GCSE Drama.

Assessment structure

Option 1: Pearson BTEC Level 3 | National Extended.

Certificate in Performing Arts 360 GLH (470 TQT) (Acting) 

Equivalent in size to one A-Level. Five units, of which two are mandatory and one is external; mandatory content (50%), external assessment (33%).

Option 2: Pearson BTEC Level 3 | National Extended.

Certificate in Performing Arts 360 GLH (470 TQT) (Dance) 

Equivalent in size to one A-Level. Five units, of which two are mandatory and one is external; mandatory content (50%), external assessment (33%).

Option 3: Pearson BTEC Level 3 | National Extended.

Certificate in Performing Arts 360 GLH (470 TQT) (Musical Theatre) 

Equivalent in size to one A-Level. Five units, of which three are mandatory and one is external; mandatory content (66%), external assessment (33%).

What can pupils’ study next?

This qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers.

Students can progress to higher education on a full degree, single or combined courses, for example:

Performing Arts BA (Hons), Acting and Performance BA (Hons), Contemporary Performance Practice BA (Hons), Creative Industries (Media Production) BA (Hons), Culture, Media & Creative Industries BA (Hons), Dance BA (Hons), Dance Performance and Teaching BA (Hons), Dance & Choreography BA (Hons), Dance Science BSc (Hons), Drama and Creative Writing BA (Hons), Drama, Theatre & Performance Studies BA (Hons), Musical Theatre and Arts Development BA (Hons), Theatre, Television and Performance BA (Hons).
