Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Our Pastoral Care is a renowned strength at BCS, and comes from the positive and open partnerships between pupils, parents and staff. We’re proud of our extensive wellbeing and pastoral team, comprising a student counsellor, an extensive learning support team, boarding house staff, student nurses and senior pastoral staff, tutors and mentors. These teams are led by the experienced Deputy Heads at each school.

Pastoral Care and Mental Health Leads:

At BCS, we pride ourselves in getting to know each individual child as their own person, to ensure their feeling of belonging and self-esteem by truly recognising their value. Our teaching and support staff are committed to nurturing and supporting all children who come through the school doors, so they can flourish and develop socially, academically and holistically, and find their feet in the world.

Your Voice Heard

BCS are committed to ensuring the voice of our pupils across both schools is one that can be heard. We have recently introduced the Worry Box at the Prep and the Raise a Concern app at the Senior Schools to create a safe place for them to voice their concerns without fear. These outlets are monitored daily by our Heads of Pastoral, and the responses to such concerns are raised as an overarching education in whole school assemblies and across all year groups.

Other initiatives in place include:

·       Pupils complete the Diana Award as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

·       Pupil and staff welfare surveys are routinely sent out and reviewed.

·      Intervention for pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) needs, including Lego Therapy, Socially Speaking and Bereavement Support.
