Boarding Staff

Meet Our Team

Head of Boys Boarding – Mr O’Donoghue

Mr O’Donoghue is a former Modern Foreign Languages teacher {French & Spanish} who recently retrained to teach EAL {English as an Additional Language}. He recognises that in this way he can directly influence international boarders with their English language acquisition. He is passionate about boarding and ensuring the boys are happy, healthy and safe. He enjoys all sports, playing the guitar and travelling the world. He loves living and working on the ‘British Riviera’ here in Bournemouth.

Housemaster - Mr Dominic Miller-Jones

Mr Miller-Jones  a new member to the team at BCS. He is a geography teacher and Housemaster in Boys Boarding. He studied Applied Geography at Bournemouth University and trained to be a teacher at Southampton University. He loves travelling around the world and hopes to visit every continent at some point in the future. His other hobbies include rugby, football and most other sports.

Housemistress - Miss Hayley Morris

Miss Morris is the school Triathlon Coach and works in the PE department.  Miss Morris was a previous competitive swimmer, and has many years’ experience teaching people to swim – adults and children.  Hayley also works on the school learn to swim programme.  When not working Miss Morris enjoys baking sweet treats and being active - whether going to the gym, cycling, paddle boarding and is often seen out walking her two dogs - Polo and Murray.

Housemistress - Ms Patricia Cunningham

Ms. Cunningham joined the Boarding team at BCS in September 2018 and splits her time between the Boys and Girls Houses, with no favourite, despite the boys best cajoling! Ms. Cunningham is resident in the boys boarding block where she lives with her daughter Ava and dog Wolfie.

When not spending time with the boarders, Ms. Cunningham is an Art, Textiles and Photography teacher, having joined BCS in January 2017. Prior to this she taught at several International schools on the Caribbean islands of The Bahamas, Montserrat and Antigua.

Ms. Cunningham enjoys interacting with the boarders and ensuring they are happy and comfortable, and making the most of their time here at BCS. Her free time is spent travelling (always to warmer climes!) reading, creating artwork and exploring our fabulous Jurassic location with Wolfie.

Housemistress - Miss Alice Rowe

Miss Rowe joined BCS in February 2018 as the Sixth Form administrator and careers and work experience coordinator and moved into boarding over the Christmas holidays later that year. She is in a fortunate position, to already know quite a few of the boarding students through working in the Sixth Form, but says she has really enjoyed getting to know them better outside of the school environment and also getting to know the younger students who she may not have interactacted with during the school day. There is a great family atmosphere within boarding and she says that all the students and staff have made her feel very welcome.

Outside of BCS, you’ll find her in the gym, down the beach or hiking, She enjoys all kinds of sports and used to play a lot of rugby and netball. Before she started working at BCS she did plenty of travelling and went to some amazing places including South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. Whilst in New Zealand, she spent 7 weeks exploring the North and South Islands on her push bike, which was incredible but also probably the hardest thing she says she has ever done. Most of all though, she enjoys good company and being able to laugh a lot!

Housemistress - Miss Mikayla Kear

Miss Mikayla Kear is a new member to the girls boarding staff at the beginning of 2019, she has come to BCS on a gap year from Christchurch, New Zealand. She is passionate about design and photography and is always finding ways to be creative. She loves travelling and is looking forward to the adventures she can have in the UK and Europe throughout the year.

Housemaster - Mr James Ryan

Mr James Ryan grew up in Cornwall, about 15 minutes from Lands End, attending local primary and secondary schools before studying Sports and Exercise Sciences at Truro College. Swimming was always a passion from an early age, that eventually led to starting a swim school business at the tender age of just17, whilst still swimming competitively at a national standard. James was born into a family with a big heart, his parents were also foster parents to many children who were from backgrounds not as fortunate as his own.

Childhood was never a lonely time with plenty of people to play with and lots of opportunities for mischief. This has moulded James into the individual he is today. He can often be seen by the side of the pool at BCS coaching. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, spending time with friends and family and hunting down a good beach in the summer with food and drink in tow.

Housemistress - Mrs Marzena Sienko

Mrs. Marzena Sienko has recently joined the Boarding Team in early 2019.  Marzena enjoys spending her free time with the family and close friends, she likes practising yoga and riding a bike along the coast. Her interests are nutrition, dieting and how they affect health and quality of life.

She enjoys travelling, likes to visit places on foot and explore them with friends. She also likes taking  a good book along with her wherever she goes, because she enjoys reading books very much.
