Boarding Staff

Meet Our Team

Head of Boarding – Mr Mark Single

Mr Single, the new Head of Boarding as of Sept.'15, is a Design & Technology and Food Studies teacher. His family - Alice, daughter Daisy and Jessica the cat - have spent the last 5 years working in a United Learning sister school in Kent, prior to moving to BCS. He enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, collecting cookery books, cooking and restoring classic cars - his latest project being a 1983 Fiat X1/9.

Head of Girls Boarding – Mrs Nowak

Mrs Nowak undertook the Boarding Schools Association's qualification for boarding staff and now holds the Certificate of Professional Practice in Boarding Education from the BSA in conjunction with Roehampton University. She loves travelling and also enjoys long walks on the beach and reading. She tries to learn something new from every experience! Her fundamental aim is to encourage the girls to become caring, thoughtful, and confident members of Boarding family.

Head of Boys Boarding – Mr O’Donoghue

Mr O’Donoghue is a former Modern Foreign Languages teacher {French & Spanish} who recently retrained to teach EAL {English as an Additional Language}. He recognises that in this way he can directly influence international boarders with their English language acquisition. He is passionate about boarding and ensuring the boys are happy, healthy and safe. He enjoys all sports, playing the guitar and travelling the world. He loves living and working on the ‘British Riviera’ here in Bournemouth.

Housemaster – Mr Parfitt

Mr Parfitt is one of the Schools performance swimming coaches. His hobbies include cooking, going to the gym and walking his French bulldog around locations on the stunning South coast. Mr Parfitt has a wealth of experience in boarding having been part of the boarding team for 6+ years and has seen many students progress & develop at BCS over the years.

Housemistress - Miss Sue Berry

Miss Berry has worked in this school for nearly twenty years, the last six, as part of the boarding team.  She is currently a Housemistress in girls' boarding, which she finds extremely rewarding. Miss B considers it to be a great privilege to be part of the boarder's journey from childhood to adulthood, advising, helping, both academically and pastorally, comforting them, as and when necessary.  The only down side, that she can think of, is when it is time for the girls to leave us, to embark on the next stage of their journey. Fortunately, however, with today's technology it is easy for them to keep in touch about their achievements and thankfully they nearly all do, so any tears when they say goodbye, are replaced by feelings of pride.

Housemaster - Mr Dominic Miller-Jones

Mr Miller-Jones  a new member to the team at BCS. He is a geography teacher and Housemaster in Boys Boarding. He studied Applied Geography at Bournemouth University and trained to be a teacher at Southampton University. He loves travelling around the world and hopes to visit every continent at some point in the future. His other hobbies include rugby, football and most other sports.

Housemistress - Miss Hayley Morris

Miss Morris is the school Triathlon Coach and works in the PE department.  Miss Morris was a previous competitive swimmer, and has many years’ experience teaching people to swim – adults and children.  Hayley also works on the school learn to swim programme.  When not working Miss Morris enjoys baking sweet treats and being active - whether going to the gym, cycling, paddle boarding and is often seen out walking her two dogs - Polo and Murray.

Assistant Housemistress - Hollie Leigh

Mrs Leigh started working at BCS in September 2016 after recently getting married. She has loved the challenge of working with the girls who board here and helping them achieve their potential both academically and socially. She sees it as such a great opportunity to get alongside different ages and nationalities in the boarding house. Mrs leigh has loved being completely involved in all aspects of boarding life and seeing the girls grow and develop in such a positive way. In her spare time she likes to bake, create things, spend time with friends and family and go to the gym. "It is such a great privilege to share in the girls’ journey from when they first start until the time they leave."

Housemaster - Richard Morgan

Mr Morgan, who started at BCS September 2017, has been working in education since 2012. In that time he has taught in England, Wales and Germany. He is a qualified PE teacher with previous experience of working in boarding. Having completed his teacher training at Cardiff University and working alongside Cardiff Football Club on their Futsal education programme, he set off for Cologne, Germany to teach PE and work in the Boarding house. This experience made him realise how great working in boarding could be, living amongst so many different cultures and languages. Having played basketball to a competitive level, being an avid gym goer and all round sport lover he will be a great asset to the activity programme for the boarding houses.
