Bournemouth Collegiate School pupil, Grace Upshall has not one, not two, but three reasons to really kick back and enjoy her Half Term break!

Never willing to do things by halves Grace won a Young Writers poetry competition about Heroes; passed her 11+ (with 100 points to spare!) and placed third in the Girls U12 Cyclocross race in Fareham. Fittingly, the hero that Grace chose to dedicate her Young Writers poem to, was Katie Archibald Track Cyclist who is one of Grace’s all-time heroes, hopefully she will be able to see it when the Young Writers book is published later this year.

Kay Smith, Head of Prep at Bournemouth Collegiate School said “Wow – what an end to the first half of term for Grace; clearly good things come in threes too! Grace is an absolute asset to BCS and we are thrilled that she continues to go from strength to strength both in, and out, of the classroom. Grace clearly has a very bright future in front of her, and we look forward to hearing of her future successes!”

Grace’s proud mum, Sam added “Grace absolutely thrives on the sporting opportunities which BCS has to offer, whilst maintaining her already high academic standards; the support from all the teachers has been fantastic. Grace is a very keen cyclist across a variety of disciplines - track (we are very lucky to have the outdoor velodrome at Slades Farm), road, cyclocross and mountain bike. She has started competing in track, road and cyclocross races and is doing very well - a great representative for Poole Wheelers Cycling Club.”
