Hat-Trick at the British Para Swim International Meet 2018

04 June 2018

Still only 14, Leo qualified for all 7 of his S6 category events and his target was simply to try to reach a Senior Multi Class Final for the first time at BPSIM.

An amazing haul of 6 personal best were achieved including a 5 sec PB in his 200im, 7 sec improvement  in his  100m Backstroke  and a massive 19 sec PB in his 400m FreeStyle.  This resulted in Leo reaching 4 Senior Multi Class Finals!!!

Not content with that, Leo produced a solid 4th placing in the 400 Free as second youngest in the Final!!

Despite being the youngest in the other three finals. Leo then produced a "Hat Trick" of  Medal wins in the remaining three finals.........He then capped a magical week of swimming by getting Gold in the 100 free final (33.71 secs) and a Silver in the 50 Free final (1:15.14) and then a Bronze in the 50 Butterfly Final (41.11 secs) !!!!

The times for the 50 free and 100 free have now culminated in earning Leo an invitation from British Swimming (able-bodied) to compete for the first time at the "British Swimming Summer National Champs 2018" in July.

The other five events are also qualified to compete at the English National Champs 2018, the following week.

It was a truly wonderful week of hard work and effort by Leo, which was very rewarding, and made us all very proud of him.
