Children’s Mental Health Week

05 February 2021

From the 1st - 5th February we celebrated Children's Mental Health Week. This year of home learning has been particularly imporant for the mental wellbeing of BCS pupils, teaching us how to remain positive at a time of great uncertainty.

This year the focus of Children's Mental Health Week was 'Express Yourself'. Throughout the week pupils were treated to fun, creative challenges by their teachers to encourage them to take time away from screens and focus on mindfulness. We saw lots of children build dens in their living rooms, paint portaits of themselves, bake a cake and even run 100 laps of their gardens in 10 minutes!

Year 1 created their very own 'Worry Monsters'; cuddly creatures that will listen to their worries and absorb them, while Year 2 made their own 'Hope Jars' filled with handwritten notes of things they look forward to when lockdown is over. Sunny weather during the weekend ecouraged children and their families to explore their local outdoor areas on foot, producing some very interesting findings, projects (and lots of adventures too!).
