Studying in the Sixth Form
The choice of subjects is
extensive, and due to our link with Highcliffe School, we have almost 70
different options available. It is truly
almost impossible not to find a subject that meets your needs, or to find a
timetable that we can’t meet. If you
want to follow a very academic route, a more practical one, or one that
combines both then we can tailor a course to meet your needs.
Current students are studying the
following courses, but there are many others also available:
English Literature, Mathematics, Further
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, Law,
French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Art and Textiles, Art, Photography, Dance, History,
Geography, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Psychology, Physical Education, Home
Economics, Drama and Theatre Studies, Music, Music Technology, ICT, and Media
Studies.
We run a formal Oxbridge course
to support students looking to enter Russell Group universities, including
Oxford and Cambridge.
The Sixth Form experience is designed to provide
a broad and stimulating Enrichment Programme
built around this core of formal subject studies, together with
participation
in the school’s Activities Programme.
Students are mentored in the skills needed for university and job
applications
and interviews, develop public speaking and debating skills, attend
workshops
or seminars (sometimes at other schools) which bring them into contact
with
people from all walks of life, and travel around the country to
interviews or
Open Days at universities and other Higher Education establishments. A Visiting
Speakers’ Programme introduces
students to a range of professional and
inspirational perspectives from outside
the school.
