Month Summary
January/ February 2017
  • UCAS 2016 VLE Site goes live to Year 12 – All Year 12 to log on the VLE and familiarise themselves with the information available.
  • Year 12 Higher Education Workshops and Event – look at available resources to investigate course options, universities and typical graduate destinations.
  • Oxbridge Conference at Hampshire Collegiate – Presentation and Q/A with representatives from Oxbridge admissions on the application process.
March/April 2017
  • Introduction to UCAS Personal Statements
  • UCAS Presentation
  • UCAS Convention-300 exhibitors including Universities, colleges, charities, gap year companies, recruiters and organisations at Bournemouth University
  • Parents Meeting
  • Sharing experiences, Year 13 meet Year 12 to discuss decision making and application process
  • Further changes can be discussed with the Head of Sixth Form
  • Deadline for A2 choices
May 2017
  • Study leave begins for AS exams
June/ July 2017
  • Return from Study Leave
  • Explanation of how the UCAS “Apply” system operates
  • Set up own UCAD online accounts and enter personal details
  • Workshops on how to write effective Personal Statements
  • Complete draft personal statement for feedback
  • Advised on additional summer reading
  • 1:1 careers interview with tutor to discuss current plans and identify additional individual research required over the holidays
  • Attend appropriate number of University Open Days
