Providing work experience and skills which increases employability

Due to the opportunities and programmes in the Sixth Form our students build up a portfolio of work experience and skills which increases their employability. The Student Support Manager is always available to give advice on CV building, interview practice and job searching.

We appreciate the role of networking and social media in the job market. Our Higher Education and Careers events expose students to a wide variety of local businesses. It gives students the opportunity to gain an insight into career options and talk directly to individuals in those roles.

Careers advice is available to all Sixth Formers through individual meetings with tutors, specialist staff or the Head of Careers, or as part of the more formal talks from visiting speakers and the tutorial programme. There is a wealth of information available to all, and we urge Sixth Formers to make the most of accessing this so that they can make informed choices about their future. It is essential to gain as much work experience as possible. This helps to develop a more rounded and interesting Sixth Former, and one who has a much better chance of progressing successfully into their chosen career. We support our students in finding work experience and internships and advise all students to complete work experience during the summer break following Year 12.
