School Activities
BCS offers a wide-ranging programme of extra-curricular activities. Art,
drama, music, dance, ICT and sport are all popular options, but there
are many other options to tempt every taste. Outings are arranged to the
local dry ski slope, theatres, cinema, museums and theme parks – both
locally and further afield.
Students will be able to join in with a very wide range of activities at
lunch times and after school including:
Sport
5-a-side Football, Rugby Club, Basketball,Cricket (indoor in winter and
outdoor in summer), Netball, Hockey Club, Football Club, Badminton
(beginners, intermediates and advanced), Step Aerobics, Trampolining,
Volleyball, Basketball, Gymnastics, Swimming, Lifesaving, Movement and
Dance, Tennis, Athletics, Rounders, Self Defence (beginners and
advanced) and Running Club. In addition the Outdoor Education department
organises activities such as canoeing, climbing, caving and scuba
diving. The new BCS Water Sports Academy introduces students to a range
of activities including sailing, catamaran sailing, kayaking,
windsurfing, surfing and body boarding.
Music
Choir, Orchestra, Woodwind Ensemble, Drama Production, Belly Dancing
(girls only), Improvised Drama, Art Club and Rock Music . Recent choir
tours have included Paris, Prague and Barcelona. These cross-curricular
trips provide students with an opportunity to discover the culture of
other countries whilst performing in amazing venues.
Other
Sewing Club, Book Club, ICT, Duke of Edinburgh, Christian Union,
Cookery Club, Environmental Club, French Film Club, Photography, DT
Club, Pottery Club, Rock Music Club, Magic Tricks, Family Tree
Research, Jewellery Club and Science Club. Drama clubs present regular
evening performances ranging from Shakespeare to modern comedies, and
encourage participation regardless of previous experience.
