Language Week at BCS
BCS have been holding a Language Week to tie in with the European Day of languages on September 26th. We have had a great week learning new languages and enjoyed a range of taster lessons including Italian, German, Russian and Chinese.
On Wednesday we had a fantastic French/Spanish House quiz. Pupils had to answer a wide range of questions about French and Spanish culture and language. It was a very exciting competition with a great atmosphere and it was an extremely close competion. However Studland took the lead in the last round of questions, Purbeck were Second and Solent third. Well done to all participants.
Some of our A level pupils also taught Spanish and Italian at the prep school. They were very creative and carried out their first teaching experience very professionally introducing new language with flashcards, interactive powerpoints and games. Year 5 & 6 were able to count up to 20 in Spanish; say at least 10 animals in Spanish and could even order food and drink in an Italian restaurant by the end of the lesson! All the pupils were very enthusiastic and we were very impressed by how quickly they picked up the new languages.
