Tabla Workshop

BCS were delighted to welcome Steve Morley, an Indian tabla player, to run workshops with the GCSE music students and our Year 7’s recently. The sessions were not only fun but really useful for GCSE students, who are studying world music, in particular the classical music tradition of India and for Year 7 who are currently studying rhythm.

Our pupils fully participated in the workshop, and made the most of the opportunity to try all the instruments and also to learn to count to five in Hindi!

The vibraphones and the dhoud as well as the buffalo drums and tablas made a very satisfying sound!
