MORE!

That’s what the audience were left shouting after Bournemouth Collegiate Prep School’s performance of Oliver. The cast of over 60 children aged 7 to 11 took to the stage for a two night sell out run of the popular musical. The role of Oliver was shared by Charlie Bates and Emma Gallen who delivered inspired performances and who were superbly supported by Hannah Griffin as Nancy, Florence Bates as Bill Sykes, Charley Le Conte as The Artful Dodger, Oliver Goulden as Mr Brownlow and Harrison Bates as Fagin.  The production was ably led by teachers Angela Curran-Smith, Faye Laishley and Jacqueline Corrie.  Key Stage 2 Co-ordinator, Angela Curran-Smith said, “Oliver has been a fantastic opportunity for all, and every child in Years 3 – 6 has enthusiastically been involved, whether their strengths and interests are in acting, dancing, singing, playing a musical instrument, helping backstage or working on the sound and lighting desks. I am overwhelmed with the talent of the children at BCPS who rose to the challenge of learning the musical’s favourite songs and sustaining a 2 hour production with cockney accents and difficult dance routines! This has been a real team effort and the children have got so much out of it. I am immensely proud of them all and have had many comments of disbelief that our children are only junior school age because their performances of Oliver on stage were outstanding and so professional. I am looking forward to our next big production in 2012 already.”
