House Debating

Four teams representing each of the new houses met to debate in January one lunchtime. The teams were open to all ages so we witnessed fine debaters from year 8 challenging the intellectual skills of members of Year 12 and 13. The topics included, “This house believes the Olympics are a waste of money”, which the proposer lost, and the vexed question, ”Can we exist without the mobile phone?” .  After the inaugural debate we intend to stage more and watch the improvement in tactics and arguments. Star speaker of the day was Gabbie Stanley who may have a career in politics ahead of her.
