6th Form changes

The BCS Sixth Form has taken off, and the newly appointed Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Maria Coulter, and her Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Mr Stephen Smith, have created a new team of sixth form tutors and a new dynamic, forward-thinking and exciting style to the rapidly expanding and growing BCS Sixth Form.

BCS ensures that our sixth formers have the best possible preparation for their future studies and careers: we have embarked on a number of unique and exciting changes aimed at ensuring that our leavers continue to gain access to their first choice university courses.  We are preparing them for the new challenges of greater university competition, and the need for ever improved A level results.

BCS is extremely proud that in the last two years 100% of our leavers gained access to their first choice university course. But our sixth form offers much more than just success in examinations; it is truly offering an all-round package with opportunities to attend seminars and conferences; partake in a wide range of trips, sport, music and performing art experiences; the chance to accept leadership, mentoring and teaching support roles within the school and the chance to enjoy small tutor groups and teaching groups ranging from 6 to 14 in a group.  Our sixth formers have their own dedicated sixth form study centre in which to relax in the common room or coffee bar; with full wireless access and networked PC’s, and study areas.

Our subject choice is extensive, and in 2011 our results indicated that every single Year 13 scored a positive value added result.  100% of our leavers surpassed their potential grade, in every subject.

That says it all: we claim that we deliver – and we do!
