Matters of Faith

BCS is ecumenical and non-denominational in outlook. We welcome students of all faiths and cultural backgrounds, but special links are maintained locally with the United Reformed Church. Most school days begin with an assembly, and Christian boarders have the opportunity to attend their preferred church on Sundays. UCST was founded through the Church of England on the principles of respect, service and compassion. As a member of UCST, we seek to maximise every individual's potential, nurturing the self-confidence and self-esteem that will enable them to make the most of their talents.

The school holds regular services in local churches, and the School Chaplain (the Revd. Martin Ambler) takes a very active role in the daily life of the school.

Above all, we hold dear a strong commitment to sound moral teaching at BCS, and regular weekly assemblies reinforce our determination to develop young people into responsible citizens who will enhance the communities in which they live, work and play.
