English (EAL) Support

BCS has a very experienced and supportive EAL (English as an additional language) department and a team of staff who support pupils with their English.  We offer a full IELTS programme and when pupils leave BCS they average over 7.5 for IELTS.

Many international pupils make such rapid progress with their English due to our excellent EAL department that they often take normal English GCSE’s, and a few even take English at A levels in the Sixth Form.

We assess all pupils and then plan an individual programme of professional support and lessons for them.

In addition, our  3-Year Post-16 A-Level (Foundation) Programme  has proved hugely successful and beneficial for many international students.

AS the school has pupils from more than 27 different countries we are experts at helping those who speak different languages.
